I am not sure why this never occurred to me when I was flying KR, maybe the
cost. They are expensive, but do solve the issue of the limit on the length of
the prop for the RPM necessary to achieve maximum power out of an auto
conversion engine. I am flying a 3 blade ground adjustable prop from
Whirlwind. It has leading edge protection and is a composite prop that is very
light.

If I were doing it again, this would be the prop that I would use on my KR. I
understand that Sensenich may also make one, and it could be better. I like
the service that I get from Whirlwind and the prop is perfect for me.

I've always admired the craftsmanship involved in attaching the copper
protective strips to the leading edges. Also the curves of the design.

They do look heavy . . . something at least befitting a Corvair or more
powerful engine than the typical VW derivative. Lightness is an advantage I
suspect, when it comes to lighter engines.
