Those brackets, by the way, are what I made before Diehl recalled the
cast aluminum brackets. I didn't like the cast brackets as the bolt
holes were to close to the edge, I thought, and they just didn't look up
to the task. I took a piece of 1/4" thick 4130, 6" X 2", cut with a
hacksaw at the center mark about 3/4ers of he way through. I bent the
bracket to a 45degree angle then had the cut welded shut and the gusset
added. Diehl later came out with a steel bracket. His differed from
mine by being 2 1/2" wide as I recall and a rounded bottom. Mine have
survived for 750 hours and hundreds or thousands of landings. But then
I've never made a hard landing. :-):-)
