what is the top speed and cruising speed? do you like that engine choice? as far as nose down, thats interesting. the reason canard designs are more efficient is because both wings are lift whereas in conventional design, the tail is pushing down canceling some lift in the main wing and requiring a percentage of "climb power" to make up for all that loss. so my thought is to balance the aircraft within the safety design envelope but with least need for trimming the elevator up. what is your weight and balance situation? not sure if other factors also involved here such as tailplane and wing incidences but your aircraft is to plans and looks very correctly built so not likely.
