Question?  Are altitude encoders adjustable?  My replacement $150 KT-76A paints a target for center radar but they showed me at 3000 feet when altimeter showed 3500 feet.  I think I had the altimeter set to at least one digit of local setting.  I forgot to see what the GPS altitude was showing.  I thought my old transponder reported closer but the transponder has nothing to do with altitude, that's the encoder's duty.  I guess I'll need to run it through the shop as many people are using ADS-B now days and 500 feet is considerable error.

Now I'm wondering if my old unit would work if I de-oxed the contacts and reinstalled the unit.  At this point I don't think I'll bother to even try it.

Merry Christmas to all..........................'
