"Moderation" is when I check a box next to your name that any post you
make to the list must be OK'd by the moderator before it's actually
posted. Sometimes, maybe once or twice a year, I simply get fed up
with somebody and check that box. What did it for me with Joel is that
he just joined the list a few days ago, and made five posts in one day,
all of which violated all or almost all of the list rules, and only two
of which were of any value to him or the list. As a new list member, he
was asked to READ the RULES, and then comply with them. In short, he
demonstrated that he had no regard for the rules, he made the list a
more annoying forum for everybody else, and I put the brakes on it.
So while I'm on the subject, PLEASE READ AND COMPLY WITH THE LIST RULES!
The link to the rules is appended below every email, but to save folks
the trouble, they're at http://www.krnet.org/info.html. This includes
the part about posting photos. Several times a week somebody tries to
post 5MB to 10MB of photos to the list, which has a limit of 250k. This
tells me that almost nobody actually reads the list rules, or they
simply don't care, but the email size limit is the one rule that is
automatically enforced.
Having posted "please read and comply with the rules" probably fifty
times in the last 25 years, I've learned that the reaction is usually
dead silence for a day or two, as those who don't know or are too dumb
to follow the rules lay low, and then they come back out eventually and
resume their same behavior. My point is that if you have something
useful to contribute or a question that you need answered, please post
it. If you have nothing to say or can't be bothered to follow the
rules, please take a break....
