I think I mentioned in a post awhile back, there should be no "new" or "rusty" pilot looking to do a "first flight" on an airplane. I would suggest a minimum of 50 hours in the last 12 months and 15 hours in the last 90 days.  If you don't have that, get it, or let someone else more qualified do the test.  You can't imagine the pucker factor of a first flight.  I've done three on three different models and if you aren't  current your brain won't keep up with the airplane.  If you're current and the airplane flies well it's just another flight.  I've not read the Langeschwisch book so I can't comment but if you're having to read "any" book on flying before making a first flight, you're ABSOLUTELY not ready to perform it.  IMHO.  Don't try to polish off your rusty flying skills in a brand new airplane.  It may have some rusty flying skills itself.
