Stef,

I recently replaced brake pads on my airplane and had to release the
pressure in the fluid at the lower brake fittings. Both my brakes were
locked down until I released the pressure. I do not have a parking brake.

Thanks,

Stef,

I don't know of any KRs that use a parking brake, so you may not get an
answer here. Most of us just hold the brakes with our feet during run up.

On other planes with in line hydraulic lock type parking brakes, they can be
an issue with both bleeding off pressure, and sticking, although generally
speaking once the valve is open, it shouldn't retain any pressure. Other
possible issues can be an air lock in the brake reservoir if there is a
venting issue since the fluid has to expand as it heats up. I have also
seen the brakes hydraulically lock as they heated up when serviced with ATF
(Automatic Transmission Fluid) rather than 5606 Hydraulic fluid. In that
instance I drained the ATF out of the system and serviced with 5606
hydraulic to fix the problem. So the type of fluid in use is also important
to proper function of the master cylinders.

moment. But also a bit stress full. Wil it all be oke on the trailer. WE
arived safe at the airport. Installed the wings, checked everyting. Did a
runup test so I could starting with the first taxi test.

oke, my dad jumped in. Released the parking brakes and start rooling.

so corrected with the RH brake. Strange and very difficult to stear my KR2,
but I thought I need to learn so I continued. After a few 100 meters it was
to hard to keep her on the track and decited to stop. LH brake was stuck....

the problem is in the parking brake, because we did at home a good test work
(my dad inside hits on my command the brake pedals and me pulling the plane)
and that works very good.

brake flued, than the parking brake valve wil come free and the problem can
probably solved. He told me never use the parking brake with a lot of force.
With the testrun he never used the parking brake and has never have this
isue anymore.
