If your KR flies like mine I'm betting you seldom use the brakes until
you get to the hangar. Much different with swiveling nose gear where
brakes are use for steering. As Larry H. mentioned, most incidents
occurred after long periods of taxi test before first flight. When I
saw Mark's photo I was reminded about incidents I'd read about involving
"plastic" lines used in that part of the system.
I use Nylaflow line all the way to the caliper also but seldom , if
ever, apply brakes for more than 2 or 3 seconds at the end of a landing
roll. I've never used brakes during takeoff or landing for directional
control. I might do a 3 second application to do a "one wheel
turn-around" at the hangar but no heat at all there as the braked wheel
is not turning.
As long as you realize there is a"possible" weakness in that area you
can avoid the problem.
