I've been racking my brain since the autopilot discussion and I finally came
across something that may work but I need to install it and try first. It's
actually a single axis gyro for stabilizing RC helicopters in yaw. Once
engaged it will output an immediate counter steer command to any movement off
axis. It's meant to mounted in the Z axis but could be mounted in any
orientation depending on the axis you want stability in. The question is will
a small tab on one aileron be enough to control. It's time to put the "E" back
in experimental.
