I would stick with the fuselage locations you already have and just switch out the bulbs and power supplies. I did this conversion myself a few years back from a cheap strobe to an Aeroflash. The rework was pretty minor doing it this way. I think you will have way to many issues trying to convert this to wing tip if you didn't have it run this built this way to begin with.
