I guess the consensus is first ask the question is it really that bad?

Seems photobucket is being silly so I've uploaded photos to a dropbox here:

My biggest concerns are:

The integrity where the secondary spar was removed from the boat and how to
make that structural- I put pics of the inside and outside of this area.

I would have to cleanly remove the damaged bits from the main spar- I'm not
sure how I would satisfy myself that the main spar was not compromised by
either my work or whatever damaged things enough to necessitate removal of the
secondary spar.

The lack of attention to fit and finish- I attached pics of the biggest misses,
but didn't attach pics of the random drips and globs of adhesive everywhere.

That being said I am sure that given enough love the boat could be saved, the
woodwork isn't bad its just not as clean as I'd like (and its not stretched).
You could probably even get most of the weight back out of it by sanding the
bigger runs, drips and globs. But would it really save that much time from just
ordering the new quick build fuselage kit with the stretch that I really want
anyhow?

As for the other bits the fiberglass work is terrible- I attached a pic of the
surface of the forward deck which is basically random globs of resin/epoxy
mixed with voids and areas of separation.I also attached a picture of the wing
with a straight piece of raw stock against it to show the "straightness" of the
wing. Also visible if you look close is the very prominent ridge of epoxy/resin
which appears along the span of the wing both top and bottom. Trust me the work
on the empennage, wings and turtledeck is truly disastrous- maybe I could bondo
and sand the front deck and turtledeck to turn them into a plug and mold a good
part that way... but its really a total do over anyhow.

That being said I am open to thought and opinions... or if anyone is near
Regina, Saskatchewan and wants to see it drop me a line.

p.s. I have volunteered my shop to host our local EAA chapter's Zenair CH701
build this winter which should be arriving in a couple weeks so regardless of
how I proceed I'm certain to have plenty of experienced advisors... if I'm
lucky it will include our local MD-RA inspector.

Noel,

It’d be a shame if that boat really isn’t up to snuff. I might have
someone else take a look at it before you write it off, because that’s a big
step backwards. Your KR is right about where mine was when I purchased it, and
I think a lot of builders run out of steam at about that spot.

....
I would have to agree, have someone else take a look. From the pictures I can't
see anything that is scary. There is a lot of knowledge here that will help you
if there are repairs that need to take place. I also am not looking at building
the perfect airplane but wanting a safe, finished one that I can fly and modify
as needed.
Try to find a builder in your area to show the things you see as issues.
Welcome to the show that never ends .!!! It's a great group of people here.
