I had a nice flight today (180 miles) to meet Rob Schmitt at the Jefferson City, Missouri airport to go over his Gathering plans. I think he has it nailed down to the time and temperature. Sounds like great facilities that may rival Mt.Vernon and I can see future Gatherings there if Rob cares to host again. Speaking of that, if anyone has plans for hosting a future Gathering you're running out of time to make plans and submit your invitation at this years Gathering.

The flight over included 30 mph head winds right on the nose, a 1.5 hour flight. Coming back, up a bit higher (7500 feet) I had 40 mph wind on the tail and saw 190 mph ground speed, making the flight in one hour flat. Still chasing oil leaks, all on the left bank only. Worked on leaks for a few hours on return. I hope I get the leaks fixed before running out of oil. :-) After cleaning, repairs, and checking things over I found my AWESOME pneumatic tail wheel flat. New tire and tube in the box so make attack that after supper. My alternator output is low but flyable so that's another nit to deal with. Eight hours now on the overhaul and it seems to be running fine with temps where they should be, CHT 325 in cruise, oil temp right at 190 for the entire flight.
