The Facets are more reliable than they may appear, and are dirt simple. The stock mechanical pump is certainly less reliable. Having said that, you need two pumps, each fed from a different battery, and each with it's own switch (or double pole double throw switch) to ensure redundancy. With that combination, you almost can't go wrong. I use a little sealed lead acid UPS battery that weighs under three pounds for the fuel pump backup. They draw about .8A per hour, so they'll run a long time on a small battery.
