My system is the safest and most simple setup I could come up with. I have no header tank at all. All my fuel is in the outer wing panels in long narrow tanks just behind the forward spar. I have a line coming to the fuselage from each tank with a shut off valve for each tank. The valves are located on the forward face of the forward spar between my legs. Between the shutoff valves is a tee that goes to two fuel pumps in series, to a pressure regulator, to the gascolator on the firewall, and then to the carb. I have no engine driven pump so I have a back up battery in case I lose electrical power. I can pump from either or both tanks with either or both pumps. It is just a matter of turning on one or both pumps and one or both tanks. I can carry 12.5 gallon in each wing and my C.G. moves forward 1 inch from full to empty tanks. Larry Flesner
