I just finished cutting the instrument panel for my Cub 2 weeks ago. See
bottom of<http://jscott.comlu.com/Cub/final_assembly/Final_Assembly.html> I
used .063 2024 T3 for the panel, although 6061 T4 probably would have bee
preferable for the task, but didn't have it on hand at the time. I used a 2
1/4" Greenlee punch for the small holes, and a fly cutter for the 3 1/8" holes.
The key to using the fly cutter is to do it on a mill at a very slow speed and
light pressure with some lubricant and make sure the panel is properly clamped
down. A drill press isn't going to go slow enough for the task. The fly
cutter made nice clean holes that worked out very nicely. For my KR, I built a
plywood panel, so only needed hole saws to make the instrument holes. Pictures
from when I built it are at

After a nerve racked morning with a fly cutter I have determined that I am
probably not going the be able to cut the instrument holes. Another option is
a Greenlee punch but those are quite expensive unless someone has one to loan.
With all that said I am thinking that I want to mark up a piece of .125
aluminum sheet and send it off to someone to laser cut. Any suggestion on who
could do that for me?

Thanks
Craig
