Guys,

I am about to take on a KR 2 s project and go down the VW aircooled conversion
route and would prefer the more powerful option of a redrive or a type 4
engine,
(As my knowledge of these units would allow me safer opperation).

I am in the UK and drawings and notes exist for the wing plates etc to take the
AUW up to 1050LB, but I have heard of difficulties (within the UK) of having
these mods  weight limits accepted.

I would therefore like to send out an appeal to gather data on the weight
capacity of this aircraft, preferably any tests done to destruction within a
measured Labratory enviroment on both the standard wing RAF profile and  later
"upgraded" version, to compare the slight spar dimentional changes, and foam
cored with wing skin preformed versions .

Personal flight time experience and observed G meter evidence ould also be
valuable as supporting evidence.

I am sure that ther will be many partialy finished /damaged  airframes out
there that are destined to go as firewood, and would be better served to be
used
to test to destrction either in a suitably equiped University or aircraft
research facility(either UK,EU or USA).

I would be willing to act as Hub /organiser for shipping to UK,EU (would hope
to
contribute to a part loaded container..any offers gratefully recieved).

I have shipped from Pheonix AZ before but I am open to sugestions options,
(Vans
RV builders container share is one example I know of).

I could go down the simpler route and install a Jabiru engine but I think the
technical approach could assist a lot of KR 2 owners who are limited to solo
flight currently, and encourage completion of part finished UK KRs.

I ill be influenced by response (or lack of) as I do not have the resource to
go
this alone, and also  would not want to repeat data collection already available.

My aim is to make data obtained to be made freely available subject to any
request for expences to be covered  by any univesrities that contribute,or
profesional services engaged or in the case of data copywritten /owned by third
parties supplied for this study, subtect to release from any liability for use
of that data offered .

I have no previous ties or arrangements regarding this idea and welcome any
possitive/productive suggestions or contributions

Regards

Kevin
