How could you pinch a hole in the tube with the plastic insert installed?? Would love to see some pictures and how you managed to do it.. My next question is why wouldn't it work?? I've used the method for years with no issues and no holes. Simple to install and slightly inflate the tube. Inquiring minds need to know what you did or didn't do..
