Apparently no one has yet flown a KR-2with a BMW engine? Here is a link to a company that apparently sells a unit which looks like it would work on a KR-2. When I originally researched this topic I remember the water cooled BMW was extremely fuel efficient. This one is apparently an R1100 of approx 100hp: http://www.takeoff-ul.de/ Look here for a US company converting R80; R90; and R100: http://www.ultralightnews.com/engineinfo/bmwconversion.htm Look at several CH601's with various BMW's here: http://www.zenithair.com/zodiac/6-photo4a-engines.html

This is a little high for a propeller, and the load of a motorcycle might be different for a propeller. I just wanted to see if anyone has heard how the BMW R-engine does on an airplane. I have been told through some research that the Rotax gearbox will go on a BMW engine. The question is how does this go on a KR and will it be a reliable setup for a KR? Kris Leirfallom CFI KR builder
