Hi Group,

I have just started planning a KR-2S build, and would appreciate your
input on choice of engine.
I have also searched KRNet archive, but have not found a good comparison
of available wv engines yet. I aim to certify the aircraft as an UL, so
it has to be light.

(btw: I've checked with Norwegian Officials. I was told the easies way
of certifying the KR-2S as an UL is to build it as an Experimental with
help from the EAA and certify it as an UL when finished if it passes the
weight and stall speed limits :) great news, i just have to build it
light and slow flying...)

So far I've found these engines (in preferred order):

AeroVee 2.1, 2180 cc, 80 hp Aero-Engine, 151 lbs with Nikasil cylinders
+ exhaust system
Revmaster R-2200 engine, 80 hp @ 3300rpm, 170 lbs
Greatplains 2180cc VW Long Block Engine Kit,70 hp, 121 lbs + accessories
WV Engine Centre RG 1800 Reduction Drive Engine, 80 hp, 198 lbs

(I've also looked at the Rotax912 and the Jabiru 2200, but ruled them
out for now due to cost.)

I know the weight will vary with accessories, and those 4 engines will
probably end up at approximately the same weight.

If anyone could share some information and experiences, it would be
highly appreciated

Thanks !

Best Regards
Gunnar Olsen
