No, don't open them up with a drill.  Open them up to exactly what they need

to be with a reamer for a snug fit.  Measure the bolts and get the closest 
reamer to within .001" is what I'd do.  Although I'm sure folks have hogged 
them out with a drill and lived, I wouldn't do it....
