Mark; Randy Stout, my hangar-mate and past KR builder, is thinking of getting started on a KR-1B motorglider. I know that isn't really progress, but then again every journey begins with that first step ;o) I looked on the Rand-Robinson website and don't see the -1B supplement listed in the prices anymore. Do you know if Jeanette still offers it?
And weather has been nearly perfect for flying down here. I took the Piet up yesterday after replacing a tire and tube on it, cleaning the brake on that side, filling and bleeding with fluid. Operating off of grass some of the time, the undercarriage sure can get cruddy with grass seed and dust all mixed up with sticky brake fluid. While flight testing after the tire replacement I made three of my best landings ever, but the fourth landing quickly deflated my ego. I guess it's time for me to start practicing those 180-degree-return-to-airport turns to see how much altitude I lose in a max performance 180 to simulate an engine-out on takeoff. I know it's best to start at moderate angles of bank, but I've also read that 45 degrees of bank is probably pretty good and not as high risk as a steeper angle. More fun flying in my future, I guess. Oscar Zuniga Air Camper NX41CC San Antonio, TX mailto: taildr...@hotmail.com website at http://www.flysquirrel.net
