I do not know how KR people get away with flying without a spinner, but some of them do, and say that it is not a problem. I tried to fly my first KR, after a broken prop and spinner, without replacing the spinner, and could not do it, due to the high CHT. So, I got a new spinner and the CHT was back under control. Therefore, I concluded that the spinner plays a large role in cooling and will not fly without one.
Put on a good spinner with a bulkhead plate, be sure there are no nicks from where you made the cut outs, and it will not come off.
