My prior post assumes you are using an "externally shunted"
meter.  An "internally shunted" meter would be wired in
series from the battery + to the main buss.  I don't know
which is preferred or which is more reliable but I think
I would prefer the external shunt with the shunt mounted
on the firewall in case it ever "smokes".  The shunt on the
firewall probably gives you the shortest wire run with the
heavy gauge wire from the battery to the main buss also.
That too assumes your battery is on the firewall.  If your
system is different, your results will vary. :-)
