I have 2 40105N, connected in parallel.  I ran tests on these pumps and
those tests are documented at:

 I can confirm that the valve is NOT quite, but it does act like a check
valve and has some anti-siphon characteristics.  I do not have any check
valves in my system.  The fuel will flow with both pumps turned off. 
However, I have both pumps ON for take off and landing.  My system is also
gravity feed from the header tank.
