Hi Bob,
Not sure which Larry you are talking to but I have never glued a canopy to a
ready made frame. I have always made my frames as I attached the canopy to it.
I usually use epoxy resin fiberglass cloth and or a combo flox mix to attach. I
light sand a one or two inch area around the edge of the canopy to glue it
down. Try to make sure the canopy is not twisted or in stress when you attach
it, long term it will be better off. Just take your time and cut little bits at
a time to get a perfect fit. I use gray tape to form a perimeter line that I
will allow resin or glass to come to but not past. Of course cover the rest of
the canopy with plastic sheet if it is not already covered in case of
accidental resin drips. If you were building an RV series you would be drilling
holes usually to bolt the canopy down to the metal frame (oh no the M word) but
recently some of the RV guys in my area have had canopys cracking from drilled
holes where they bolt down. Some have used glue to
reattach their replacement canopys but I do not know what glue they are using.
Maybe Dana will know.
To answer your original question, I would have thought that you would be
glassing or painting the outside of the canopy to match your frame on the
inside. If so then your UV barrier will be on the outside and I don't think you
will have to worry if I understand what you were asking.
  Larry H.
