If you are building your wings in the conventional method ( by the plans),
I highly recommend using the foam ribs.  If not supported, the foam
will sink over the long spans under the weight of the sanding board.
The foam near the edges, where it is supported, will sand quicker.
When the board is removed, the foam springs back and you end up
with a wing with a hump in the center.

The secret to get a nice wing is to get the foam base done well.  If you
get the foam right the rest is a piece of cake.
