Once that piece of 1x8 pine was cut to mount the router, I probably spent
about 3 more minutes scarfing every piece on my airplane, and I must say the
joints were perfect. The article's in the middle of the September 1996
issue of "KROnline". If you haven't read all of these things (inspired by a
vacuum of quality in KRNewsletter publishing), check them out at
http://www.krnet.org/kronline/ . There's a lot of good KR stuff in there. A
good way to spend a Saturday night, if you don't have a web page to edit.
Disregard all the question marks....that's the kind of thing that can happen
when you let Microsoft make your HTML web page files for you.

I did another 1.2 hours near sundown tonight. Winds were 20 gusting to 30
most of the day, but it got decent an hour before sundown, so I flew around
and did some more testing. At 2500 feet, wide open (about 170 mph) the
fuselage is perfectly level. Stall is at 80 indicated clean and 75
indicated with flaps, and it's pretty gentle. Yes, ASI is way off on the
low end, as I often glance at the GPS at touchdown and see numbers in the
60's. I did 6 landings today and only ran off the runway once, and then it
was only half way. I keep a towel around to wipe the mud off the bottom of
the plane, "for just such emergencies" (that's a Foghorn Leghorn quote,
son). I may make a trip to south of TOI to my father's grass strip
tomorrow. I should have a 60 mph tailwind at 9500', but the headwind on the
return trip will be a different matter. I've found my sister's house on
Google Earth halfway between here and there, and have entered her
coordinates into the GPS for a little buzz job. Plane is fueled and ready
to go. It's ugly, but it sure is fun...
