Why not just build a KR-1B?   Stretch the fuse,  build the wing with the
different airfoil [take a pick],  maybe install a vair.   I've been thinking
about this for some time.  The plans are a retrofit to an existing KR1, but
I think a purpose built 1B would be far superior, sort of a poor man's U-2.
Maybe bicycle mains with wing protection gear.  As we age, it's time to plan
ahead.
