Hello Bill,

When you say your aircraft was "upgraded" to the fixed tricycle landing
gear, what was it upgraded from? If the aircraft ever had the standard KR-2
retractable landing gear installed, it is not eligible for operation by sport
pilots no matter what it's current configuration is. In order to be eligible,
the an aircraft must be originally certificated and continuously operated
within the FAA definition of a light-sport aircraft (LSA). So if your
aircraft
was originally equipped with retractable gear, it can't be made eligible to be
 operated by sport pilots.

The other issues with the KR-2 are maximum level-flight speed and clean
stall speed. Both of these speeds are too high according to the published
"factory" KR-2 specifications. While it's not impossible that your aircraft
might
actually perform within the LSA definition with regard to these speeds, the
FAA will go by the factory specs unless you have very detailed documentation
to support your claim that your aircraft does indeed meet the LSA definition.

Hope this helps! Let me know if you have further questions.
