Mark,

>From your description, Hartford looks like a great place to hanger an
airplane, especially a homebuilt. My point is that the relaxed atmosphere
at an airport should not be a substitute for good common sense. Activities
perceived as hotdoggin' (usually by non-flyers) CAN come back and haunt the
KR group. I don't think we want to promote that kind of reputation. My 2
cents worth.

As Don Reid said, I don't want to be labled as a party-pooper. Me neither.
Am I getting too old? :o)

> Hartford is a very relaxed airport with an exceptional amount of great
guys and I have not met one yet that I did not like. When I first took my
airplane to Hartford, a group of locals showed up to welcome me to the
field. The first thing they said was that there were two rules at Hartford
which must be abided by. The first rule is that if you screw up while flying
around Hartford you must confess to your mistake. The second rule was that
the youngest person in the group had to make the beer run. I knew right then
that I liked Hartford. As a matter of fact, It would make a great place to
hold a Gathering since it is such a relaxed environment. We have 85 aircraft
based at Hartford and I would estimate 70% of those are homebuilt. It just
does not get any better. The local newspaper caption would have read
"Another Daring Young Man and His Flying Machine". Being as close to Oshkosh
as I am does have it's benefits.
