MY set of plans says "the best and least complicated position for the pitot
tube is at the very outboard end of the stub wing.  you may mount the tube
below the wing or through the leading edge".  The stub wing is the center
one that runs through the fuselage, not the "outboard" wing, so if you mount
it where the plans call for,  you won't have to disconnect it when you
remove the wings.  Mine is (gulp), exactly per the plans (see
http://home.hiwaay.net/~langford/pitot_tube.jpg ).  There is some concern
that propwash might interfere, but the prop arc is 16 inches away,
laterally.  Hopefully, at speed, that'll be enough.  I've seen plenty more
just like it, and have heard no complaints...
