This reminded me that I've had my main tank full of fuel for something like four months now, and the aux tank about half full, and no leaks (yet). I guess I did OK there. Details of how I did it are at http://home.hiwaay.net/~langford/wingtank.html .
I'm in the middle of cutting access panels for my aileron bellcrank area out in the bottoms of the wings. That's something I've dreaded for years, and expected to take about a month. Sunday I took a RotoZip to to it, and in about 2 minutes had a perfect hole. Everything looked great in there, the cable geometry worked out perfectly, and I'll finish that side up tonight. I'm taking pictures of the process and will post them later. By the weekend I ought to be done with the other side too, and might just prime my wings to match the rest of the plane. After that I'll mount the wings to do some final weight and balance stuff using my new 400 pound scale. Then I'll be down to straightening out the gear leg geometry with shims, canopy latches, a mic push-to-talk switch, and several other similar items, and the airframe will be ready. Then it's just down to installing the Ellison carb (still waiting on that) and carb heat, and this baby will be ready!!!!! There is a very real possiblity that I'll be able to fly it to the Gathering, or I'll certainly be close! I've been taking afternoons off to finish this thing up, and so I'll have more time to sleep on the couch...
