You make a good point depending on how the holes were made. My wings and stubs had foam end ribs and the glass wrapped all the way around and it was glassed inside the holes where the wing bolts were. I had no problems flying with the holes open and couldn't even tell any speed difference. If someone just cut the holes right through glass and foam and did not glass up the sides when they were done you would wind up with the glass ripping right off the wing.
