I might be missing the point about the comment of 15 G's on the elevator counterbalance. If I understand the issue, the G forces being imposed by the pilot through bank and pull ups is not the issue. The issue is that when the control surface flutters, there are tremendous forces on the attachment of the counterbalance. Apparently the flutter generates enough acceleration forces to rip the control surface off the plane.
Was the strengh of the counterbalance mount the original issue, or am I having a senior moment? Jim Vance va...@claflinwildcats.com
