I had E. W. (Speed) Gardenhire working for me, he had airframe license #59
(but dead now). A friend of his worked for Mooney a few years ago when they
were building the M20. I beleave the glue they used was the most popular at
the time, I'm just not sure of the name.

They used some type of a steel reinforced tape. They glued the skin to the
ribs using tacks and the tape. The next day they pulled the tape with a
real hard fast pull. This was what the people at Mooney wound up figuring
out what caused the speration of the skin from the ribs. This and the fact
that the glue had not cured completely.

My guess on this new epoxy is that it cures in 24 hrs. and that is a big
difference over the glues of the past. I think that the weight on the glued
material is a far better method than all the staples, tacks etc. leaving no
holes to fill.
