Yes, the flow will carry off the heat, but it can't if the flow stops when
the pump has met the demand of the carb.  With the pump delivering 2 to 3
times the engine demand it should be shut off by the carb float at some
point in time.  It should work anyway if the demand factor is not exceeded.
