The Olympia Camedia series are, in my opinion, among the best bargains. Best Buy seems to have the best prices. Try to get above 2 megapixels and at least 3 X optical zoom. You can get stills out of a video camera, not not normally vice versa. Further, the still photos that you can get out of a video camera are usually low-resolution. To my mind, it makes more sense to stick with your existing video camera--or buy a low-price digital video camera--and also have a digital still camera. It seems that cameras that try to do both are not good at either.
