JHP sells an adaptor that replaces the battery and plugs in to a cigarette lighter plug. I've never looked close to see if it uses a regulator or just pass through wiring. I have in the past cut down battery holders and did straight through wiring to power a handheld. The modified unit was only about 1/2" thick, wired, then filled with epoxy. Larry Flesner
