Wow. I never read the directions to my ICOM A24 handhelds. They both have been 
plugged into the chargers in the hangars for at least 5 years. If I need to 
talk to someone, I pick them up and transmit while still plugged in. If I need 
to go mobile, I unplug them and go. The units and the batteries don't seem to 
be any worse for the abuse I have unknowingly perpetrated upon them.

I think I am going to read my manual. I most likely never read all of the
info in it as I am a man and never read instructions!!! Right!!!
