I fly out of Dallas just under Bravo airspace a lot and in the summers I go for elevator rides in the plane...these are not only thermals and are unpredictable but so is latent wake turbulence from the heavies that passed above your airspace and may affect you as that turbulent air descends and moves away from the large jet's path...just remember to keep your trays in the full upright position and your belt securely fastened.
