When the AH64 Apache would refuel we always had a fire extinguisher close by. Also a good idea for me. I will be keeping one handy for me during refueling operations on my airplanes.?
Has anyone read NTSB reports about wood airplanes catching fire during refueling? Or know of any? The Apache had two halon canisters in each engine compartment activated by either pilot in case of an engine fire. They phased halon out and did a big study to come up with a replacement. I could tell you what they evaluated but not what fire suppression system they decided on. ??
