Doran, I don't know about other aircraft, but I do know that the KR is one slick little bird. It took me a while to accept the fact that it needed some drag for landing. The reason is because when you are set up on final and have the appropriate attitude to maintain the speed you want, you cannot see the runway. Lower the nose to see the runway and now you have too much speed. Yes, you can slip it and that is what I always did, but then it is more difficult to develop an approach pattern, at least it was for me.
In my opinion and from what I have heard, in the opinion of many others who have flown the KR without drag and then with deployable drag, it is night and day. If you are still building, do yourself a huge favor and build in either flaps or a speed brake. You don't have to use them, and you could even remove the speed brake if you find it to be of no value to you. However, it is much more difficult to add either after you have finished your plane.
