Hi Ben,
I you've got the original side hinge type of canopy,I would change it to
the forward hinge  -follow the Guru and friend- who is in the process and
posts pictures-
 Mark Langford ((n56ml) .
There have been 2 near fatalities that I know of due to side hinged
canopies opening in flight (one in WA that you might know).
With a front hinge it should be possible to raise the height and modify  to
suit yourself.
