Alex can you expand further and add a Bug to the list, for us to look at asap.

I have just connected two of my users to my addressbook and it works to 
connect i have not tested that functionality any further. (Images did sync.)

But I know I probably have a different setup, I have mine using the Vcard setup 
not binary or repository. 

I am also using the Latest SVN copy, which maybe a couple of versions away 
from the latest in a Distribution..

This maybe also related to a particular Messenger Client so if you can mention 
that it would be a great help.
