I build from source, and currently there is absolutely no syncing between Kopete's view of the address book and KAddressBook's view of it. I've made lots of edits (about 2-3 months ago), and Kopete still sees the contacts I've deleted, and not the ones I've created. My guess is that Kopete doesn't use Akonadi, and that sees something different to KResource. Although I think they should have the same backing VCard files on my computer...
