Maybe a completely different way of saying "Thank you" using the user's
creativity is a good idea:
a platform where users can offer something they chose themselves for fixing a
bug. That might be sending a postcard from their hometown as it was common in
the early days of free software (or so I read), sending a special bottle of
beer, cleaning the car the next time they're around, a little song, a self-
drawn picture, a coupon for cinema, a nude photography (where applicable),
maybe even fixing an ugly bug in return, whatever.

This way nobody would start being a KDE developer for monetary reasons alone,
after all you can not count on cool stuff being offered.
It's just a way of showing "I REALLY would like this bug fixed" and the better
ideas you have, the more likely it becomes that somebody will notice your
problem.
He/she might then realize how important that bug is to some people and fix it,
even if he doesn't care so much for your nearly brandnew green socks.
