I arrived here after trying to center a Latte dock in the bottom pf my desktop,
and it not staying centered whenever I switched from my laptop to an external
monitor.

Could the problem be that widget positions are all offset from a single origin
(top or bottom left, not sure). Would it solve some/most of these issues if you
could anchor widgets relative to any of the 9 base positions: top-left,
top-center, top-right, center-left, ..., bottom-right? That way, after a screen
resolution change plasma could just recalculate the new absolute coordinates
based on the new screen resolution?
