Andrew Fiola <[email protected]> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC| |[email protected] | |m --- Comment #1 from Andrew Fiola <[email protected]> --- Saw what sounds like the same issue after updating to 6.8. I have a two-monitor setup, left (main) monitor 3440x1440, right one 2560x1440. Right monitor would flash a light grey overlay when moving my mouse cursor between monitors, and under some circumstances the overlay would stay in place. Most importantly, the issue seems to be tied to HDR being enabled on my right monitor. I initially found that deleting my ~/.config/kwinoutputconfig.json and allowing a new one to be created fixed the issue, and restoring the old kwinoutputconfig.json brought it back - I eventually pinned it down to the HDR setting specifically, but I'm attaching both the old (broken) and new kwinoutputconfig.json files in case anything else sticks out. Some other observations: * The exact point that triggered the grey overlay was around x=3412 (any y position) on my left monitor. * If I used click-and-drag to move a window right from my left monitor, the overlay would trigger when the right edge of the window (rather than the cursor) reached x=3412. * Spectacle suppressed the effect while waiting for me to select a screenshot area. * The KWin debug console did not report any unexpected windows, either with or without the overlay appearing. * Turning off compositing effects did not prevent the overlay from appearing. * Having an application open in windowed mode on the right monitor reliably prevented the overlay from appearing. * Applications in maximized mode on the right monitor *sometimes* prevented the overlay from appearing, depending on the application. ** Prevented the overlay in maximized mode: Dolphin, GIMP, Konsole, Steam, Kate, KCalc ** Did not prevent the overlay in maximized mode: Zen ** In between: Discord didn't prevent the flash, but did prevent the overlay from "sticking". Claude Desktop seemed to allow the delay to show up two or three times after being maximized, then prevented it. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
