A state that doesn't make sense
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Be in any room, with the window focused
2. Wait for new messages to arrive
OBSERVED RESULT
The unread count badge for the room in the room list appears with a non-zero
number, and the new messages appear in the room under a banner that says "Last
read: Just now" with a button saying "Mark as Read".
This doesn't make sense: clearly the app knows I already read the messages
(because they arrived in the current room while the window was focused), so the
banner and badge are unexpected.
EXPECTED RESULT
The room's unread count doesn't change, and no banner distinguishing read from
unread messages appears.
The room is re-sorted up to the top anyway, since new messages arrived.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
IMO the banner with a button saying "Mark as Read" should only appear when one
of the following happens:
1. I switch to a room with messages in it that I haven't read, because they
arrived while I was in another room
2. Messages are sent to the current room while NeoChat's window isn't in the
foreground. Thereafter, focusing NeoChat's window should count them all as
unread — unless more arrived than will fit in the window, in which case the
view should remain where I was before, rather than auto-scrolling to the
bottom. Then I can read the messages in sequential order, and when I've
scrolled to the bottom, the unread count should have dropped to zero.
Basically, make the read/unread behavior behave like Telegram and Discord do.
