There is also a draw polygon fence plugin (not activated). With few
developing acknowledgment (mine) It is possible to make any "fence" tool
(fence circle, fence line tool): I have a prototype of fence tools for
specialized operation, for instance using a fence line to select features
along a linestring.
In Openjump there are two of usages of fence is under Sextante layer toos:
"warp image to fence", which I found useful together with Ede's CTS plugin
to a speed reprojection of images between 2 different crs (which have no
rotation deformation)
"Extract selecte part of image". which extract the part of image inside a
fence
Another usage of fence is under Edit-Extract-Extract layer by fence, added
by Larry, this tool is undoable. As far as I remember because of memory
problems.
My idea is that Fence is a sort of swiss-knife that you can use in many
situations and I image there are other ones which we could find in the
future, for instance with WMS o WFS
